Who’s Your Team, Matt?

Doctor Who star Matt Smith has chatted about his love of Nottingham Forest – which has come as a surprise to many who believed he in fact supported a different team.

Smith revealed to the Nottingham Post how pleased he was to be appearing in their paper as his grandfather – who played for Notts County – reads it every day. Smith himself played for local side Northampton Town as well as Nottingham Forest Juniors…

“Which was massive for me because I was a huge Forest fan,” says Matt, who cites [current England Under 21s manager] Stuart Pearce as his favourite man to have ever worn the red shirt.

“I was only talking to my best mate, who is also a Forest fan, the other day about how pleased we were that Spurs had just got beat. Because of that cup final…[back in 1991, football fact fans]”

Which is interesting; as Kasterborous Forum member Castellan Spandrell points out, Matt Smith was extremely happy to receive some Blackburn Rovers memorabilia on live TV not so long ago…
