Too Many Crossovers Spoil the Show!

Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures is now showing and that can only mean one thing, one step closer to Death of the Doctor - a truly epic event episode featuring not only the first ever meeting of the Eleventh Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith but also the return of Third Doctor companion Jo Grant!

Fans may remember last year in The Wedding of Sarah Jane when the Tenth doctor turned up and Bannerman Road to lend a hand and sort out a few problems.

But don’t expect this kind of crossover between the two series every year as Phil Ford, Producer of The Sarah Jane Adventures, doesn’t just want to make “stunt” television. He told Digital Spy:

“We have to remember that this is The Sarah Jane Adventures and Doctor Who is another show. Crossing the boundary is fun every now and again, but I’m not sure we should do it all the time… this was a great opportunity for Sarah Jane to meet the new Doctor but I’d be wary of him coming back too much. Schedule-wise for the two shows it can be a logistical nightmare too.”

Don’t fret too much over this statement however, as Ford goes on to say:

“I’m sure he’ll [The Doctor] be back [in The Sarah Jane Adventures] again some time”

What do you think, should the Doctor and other friends visit Sarah Jane more? Or should they only do this kind of thing once in a blue moon?

Death of the Doctor will air on CBBC on 25th October 2010.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
