The Threat of Mr Smith

While Elisabeth Sladen might look pretty good for her mature years (she’s 62, you know!) but it seems she doesn’t feel entirely safe in the attic set of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The series returns this week with a brand new set of 12 episodes, spread across 2 days. The Nightmare Man kicks things off, which sees Sarah Jane Smith, Luke, Clyde and Rani taking on the eponymous villain, played by Davros actor Julian Bleach

When asked a (frankly absurd) question about doing her own stunts, Lis – who first appeared in Doctor Who 36 years ago – revealed:

Just going into the attic is a stunt! You come in the door and you go down two steps that are so strangely positioned, I’m still trying to get down them without looking! Then I have to circumnavigate the pillar and step over the track of the camera. And God help you if you’re in the way of the doors when the steam comes out.

If you’re in the wrong position when the steam comes out your hair just goes wild!

The Sarah Jane Adventures returns today at 5.15pm on CBBC.
