Cast Top Trumps: Doctor Who into a black hole – there’s a proper, official Who based Wii  game heading our way! Pre-orders are now available for Doctor Who: Return to Earth (which, lets be honest, is a rubbish title. Return to Earth? He never leaves! And nothing gets people intrigued like the word ‘Return’.)
Written by Who novelist Oli Smith (Nuclear Time, The Runaway Train) players will have the choice of controlling either the Doctor or Amy as they hop on board the SS Lucy Gray, a human colony ship which, as the title points out, is heading back to some planet or other after being rendered uninhabitable by solar flares.
After becoming separated in a struggle with the maintenance droids, Amy and the Doctor must both work towards unraveling a sinister plot involving their old friends  the Cybermen and…the Daleks.
The game also includes two types of mini-game; the Gravity Gun and Sonic Screwdriver Game, which specifically make use of the ‘Wii technology’ by which they mean the cooler than James Dean Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote which will allow players to aim and fire Sonic Beams that: Open doors! Manipulate objects! Turn hazards off or on!
Return to Earth is one of two Doctor Who video games to be release on Nintendo consoles on the 29th October- the second being Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth for the DS which occurs before the events of Return to Earth.
The games are developed by children’s video game specialists Asylum Entertainment (Horrid Henry, Sushi Go Round.)
Both games feature the vocal talents of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.
Doctor Who: Return to Earth on the Wii and Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth
on the DS are available to pre order for £25.91 each. Like the games, the Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote
is available from the 29th October and will set you back £29.99 (while a Sonic Screwdriver Stylus Twin Pack for the DS will cost a mere £7.45.)
Or if you have money to burn; why not pre order both games and the Screwdriver Remote  for £81.81?
