Jet Lagged Matt

Lis Sladen has revealed that Doctor Who star Matt Smith filmed his Sarah Jane Adventures scenes in Death of the Doctor in the wake of the North Atlantic volcanic ash cloud incident earlier this year.

You may recall that Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Steven Moffat were trapped in the USA following their promotional tour of the country for the 2010 series of Doctor Who on BBC America, and thanks to the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano eruption.

Despite the delay, Sarah Jane Adventures star Lis Sladen was full of praise for the actor.

“He’d just come back from Los Angeles and he was absolutely jet-lagged,” she revealed. “They gave him this big scene to start with. He walked into this unfamiliar set-up and no matter who you are, I think you feel that.”

Amazingly, Matt Smith managed to fit all of his scenes in just a few days, despite the enforced delay back in April.

“He just had a week and he was really, really good,” she said. “I think people will love it.”

The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4 kicks off on CBBC on Monday, 11th October.
