Doctor Who Flashback!

Get set for what may as well be an anniversary story as The Sarah Jane Adventures heads into very special territory this week with Death of the Doctor.

Written by Russell T Davies, the story features a number of firsts, the first on screen meeting of Sarah Jane and Jo Grant and also their first encounter with the Eleventh Doctor.

While the story is going to cause a slight storm by re-addressing the Doctor’s limited number of regenerations that he has left, it’s also going to feature a return of some very familiar faces.

The first four Doctors will make appearances via stock footage which is sure to tug on a few heart strings (but will also serve to educate the younger viewers as well!). Whilst this is unfolding, there’s also going to be appearances from Davros, Daleks, Sea Devils and Sontarans. All the while there’s a new enemy as well-the Shansheeth.

Jo’s grandson will be added to this already hectic mix and it’s guaranteed that we’re going to find out a lot about her life from the last thirty years.

For those of you  that are worried this may be overkill for The Sarah Jane Adventures, just remember how good The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End was and think about how well Russell T Davies is able to handle these characters.

Death of the Doctor begins today on CBBC at 5.15 pm.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
