Good news for collectors of Doctor Who DVD’s in America, the much hated “lag†between the UK releases and the Us ones is set to be tightened up.
A small article written on BBC America’s online shopping page revealed that the company has finally got their act together and from January 2011 all US releases will come out only one day after the UK gets them!
But what about this year’s releases? Well don’t worry, they’ve thought of that:
“Hang on!†I hear some of you say. What about the backlog from this year? What about The Dominators? Time and the Rani?  The Seeds of Doom? All will be slotted in as we progress through the year, usually in months in which there is only a single new title coming out in our territories. Does that mean there will be classic Doctor Who every month? Yes!  Probably.
So there you go, you American folk will be able to keep up with us and enjoy the shiny goodness of the DVD releases practically at the same time as we do!
Now if you could just have a word with the distributors of the James Bond Blu-ray releases and ask them why you lot have got License to Kill and The Man with the Golden Gun available to buy now when we haven’t, we’ll call it even…
For those wishing to find out more about this, you can follow the scheduling on Twitter by visiting classicdw.

FINALLY! Usually Amazon would already have my pre-orders for all three of the above and yet there’s been no sign of them. Glad to see they’re finally getting on track…..
Good news for some other countries too apparently. Austrawhatsit, New Thingummyland…
