Matt Smith – A Character Study
Matt is the latest star in a series of insightful interviews entitled “One last thing…” to have his career and life story closely examined during a one-on-one talk with The Guardian. The discussion sees Matt elaborate on his tweed costume choice, explain that he doesn’t watch Torchwood (gasp!), and share his thoughts on the upcoming Live spectacle in the Whoniverse, Doctor Who On Ice.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview, in which we gain a deeper understanding of Matt’s relationship with his Sherlock counterpart…
Guardian:Â When you and Benedict Cumberbatch go on holiday, who gets top bunk: him for having the world’s daftest surname, or you for the most common?
Matt: He’s a mate of mine, Ben. It’s a cool surname, Cumberbatch. I’m happy with bottom bunk. It’s cosier. If I have to get up for a wee, I won’t wake him.
On top of this, we even learn of a new setting on the sonic screwdriver!
Guardian:Â Doctor Who is off on tour. Does his sonic screwdriver double as an electric toothbrush?
Matt: Of course. He just lasers over his teeth and he’s good to go.
Matt also addresses the Doctor-snogging-crewmates debate and why Daleks can travel up and down stairs. But don’t take our word for it; click here!
