Sex! Death! Murder! But lets not forget the laughs. Everyone’s favourite knock-a-bout laugh riot Torchwood will continue to provide japes and guffaws for the news series according to His Mightiness Russell T. Davies.
After previously announcing that the series titled Torchwood: The New World would be ‘very dark’ Davies told USA Today:
“I sit there in the editing room saying, ‘Don’t cut that joke! Cut the plot, cut the murder, cut the story, but don’t cut the joke’.”
He added: “It will always be a cheeky show.”
Davies also let slip that the plot for the series wasn’t originally envisioned for the show:
“[The plot] had been ticking away in my mind for a long while,” he explained. “And suddenly I thought, there’s a popular show, there’s a great story, let’s put them together. It felt like it definitely could move forward and become new again.”
Torchwood: The New World airs simultanously on the Starz network in the US and BBC 1 in the UK in Summer 2011.
