Forbidden Planet has listed a new Torchwood book on its website that has grouped together essays by experts that uses the show as a focal point for some scholarly debates.
Entitled Illuminating Torchwood, written by Andrew Ireland, the book looks at some of the themes and storylines of the Doctor Who spinoff and the questions that they raise.
“Created as a spinoff of Doctor Who, the BBC television series Torchwood is a unique blend of science fiction and fantasy, with much more of an adult flavor [sic] than its progenitor. With its memorable characters, adult language, subversive humour, and openly homosexual and bisexual storylines, Torchwood provides a wealth of material for scholarly analysis and debate.
“Using Torchwood as its focal point, this collection of essays by experts and enthusiasts provides an interpretive framework for understanding the continually developing forms and genres of contemporary television drama.â€
