New ‘Wood Order

Excitable Torchwood fans, still vibrating with enough energy to power the village of Stonebroom after this weekends announcements can ease themselves back down to Earth by picking up Issue numero Uno of the Torchwood Comic.

Publishers Titan have released this animated trailer to celebrate its launch tomorrow.

Artist Tommy Lee Edwards, who’s  currently working with the chief of chat Jonathan Ross on the hit comic series Turf has teamed up with John Barrowman and his sister Carole E. to bring you Captain Jack and the Selkie which sees (Group) Captain Jack facing a deadly threat on a remote Scottish island.

In the second story – entitled Broken - Torchwood Script Editor Gary Russell and Judge Dredd and Doctor Who comic artist Adrian Salmon invite fans into a cosmic hotel (please let that be better than it sounds) where Jack and Ianto are trapped along with an old enemy from the TV series.

Whether or not you see Ianto’s return as contrition towards fans still weaping into there red ties or as a welcome nod to the past by a licenced comic stuck between old and new potential fans depends on just how much faith you have in the new series (due to hit screens in the summer of 2011.)

Both stories have already appeared in Titan’s Torchwood Magazine in the UK.

Two collectable covers – an art cover and a picture cover – will be available for the issue which goes on sale in the US on 10th August from all good (and hopefully not-so-good) retailers.

(With thanks to Ricky)

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
