Kiss and Tell

Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan appeared on BBC One’s The One Show on Friday evening, giving new once-a-week presenter Chris Evans something to smile about by stepping in at the last minute.

You can view the clip above – or you can get a general overview below.

With each of the stars looking stylish, converation soon turned to the closing moments of Flesh and Stone – and that kiss. In typical “non-actor” manner, presenter Alex Jones asked how they prepared for the business of kissing.

Smith replied: “We just said let’s go for it.”

Gillan added: “I just sort of planted one on him.”

Amusingly, when asked if she enjoyed it, Gillan replied:

“Not initially, no.”

Another topic of conversation was Chris Evans and Matt Smith’s previous encounter, when Evans was married to Billie Piper. Smith revealed that they were introduced by “Bills” at a village fete. Much hiliarity ensured when the Doctor Who star explained “Bills” was actress Billie Piper, to which Evans added “ex-wife of mine by the way. I went there.”

This classy comment on national TV prompted Matt Smith to shout “high five!”

Pretty embarrassing stuff which marred an otherwise entertaining appearance.

He says ‘I win there’ jokey comparison to Smith’s ‘mate of mine’. Found the whole thing surprisingly entertaining considering I used to have to watch this show when I lived with a friend for a while and found it the dullest thing on evening TV.

at 7:03 Matt and Karen keep turning their heads at the exact same time. Maybe they spent so much time together that occasionally they’re perfectly synched.
