Daleks Invade to Fundraise

Daleks at the National Space Centre

The Daleks are on the move – and set to invade the National Space Centre on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September!

A selection of Skaro’s finest from the Dalek Builders Guild and Project Dalek will descend upon the centre, romaing freely around the visitors while they enjoy the static displays, demonstrations, craft sessions and fundraising fun.

Malika Andress, Communications Manager at the National Space Centre, said;

“Daleks have become part of modern culture and we have all grown up with them. I think this event will be the perfect time for everybody to come out from behind the sofa and enjoy a family day out that will dispel all those memories of fear.”

The event is larger than just the Daleks, however – on Saturday the event will be visited by Ruaru Mears who has played a whole host of villains, Slitheen, Cyberman, Ood, Judoon, Pigman, Scarecrow, Hath and Cyber Shade to name just a few.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Nina De Cosimo (Blanche from Victory Of The Daleks) and Sonila Vjeshta (Vampires of Venice) will be in attendance, and you can heep track of who is expected on the event’s Facebook page or from www.spacecentre.co.uk.

Regular Doctor Who charity chaps Hyde Fundraisers will be joining the Invasion on Saturday to celebrate an amazing 25 years of raising money for charity through costuming. Since the group was formed back in 1985 they have raised an estimated £50,000 for BBC Children In Need and helped other charities with over £35,000 of donations – and fundraising on the day will be for  BBC Children In Need.
