Chasing Amy

Now that she’s a fully established part of the “Who-niverse”, Karen Gillan has been appearing all over the news in any article that the press can get their hands on.

Doctor Who companion Karen GillanUnfortunately, rather than something that is completely news worthy, the articles are mainly “Heat” style reports. Still, it’s always nice to see a picture of Karen to brighten up your day.

The Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph (online) both snapped Karen dressed in a slinky dress and black coat headed out for a night out on the town with a friend, the Mail online kindly commented:

“You might think that the TARDIS had landed in Japan and she had disguised herself as a geisha girl.

“The very white make-up and slash of bright red lipstick made her look like one of the traditional female entertainers.”

The News of the World website continues this story of Karen’s night out by focusing on the after effects of the actress having a few drinks. One unflattering picture and a bit of stirring later:

“DALEKTABLE Doctor Who sidekick Karen Gillan slumps over a mystery fella after getting a bit tardissed in the pub.”

Whilst celebrities are an unfortunate target for the press, you get the feeling that these articles take things just a little too far.

Meanwhile, www.DailyStar.co.uk reported on Karen’s costume change whilst she was hosting the Doctor Who themed BBC Proms this year due to the fact that a skirt she was wearing caused some problems as she moved around. The article even called the change “her own Doctor Who style regeneration”.

Why they don’t make these articles front page news we’ll never know…

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
