Doctor Who writer Steven MoffatThe Grand Moff has been teasing the Twitterati from the set of the Christmas Special.  The Writer/Show-runner used his brand new Twitter account to tell his followers that Matt Smith was back filming as the Doctor.

“”Oh, he’s back behind the bow tie – and better than ever.”

The special, rumoured to be called Father Who? is based on Charles Dickens 1843 classic A Christmas Carol and will feature special guest stars Sir Micheal Gambon (The Singing Detective, Harry Potter) and ‘singing sensation’ Katherine Jenkins, in her first acting role.

Speaking on her first day on set Jenkins said:

“”I’m over the moon to be involved in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

“I can’t quite believe it as it’s a part of the family tradition at the Jenkins household. I heard the news that I got the role on my 30th birthday and it was the best birthday present ever!”

In another message Moffat added:

“Best thing about this job, I get to watch Doctor Who FIRST. Ooh, look at that. And that. And blimey, THAT!!”

“Ooh, I didn’t expect to write THAT. I love it when i manage not to spoiler myself.”

Expect more 140 character gems over the coming months to Christmas from @steven_moffat.

About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

I don’t use twitter that much (though it is the only social site I do use at all these days) but I added him to mine and am enjoying his posts so far.

So, I see in the papers from yesterday pics of Matt Smith and his amour walking in the street in London.
Is he filming the new series or what?
