Midshipman Frame for Torchwood Series 4?

Russell Tovey (Midshipman Frame in Voyage of the Damned and The End of Time) has commented on the rumour that he is to appear in the new series of Torchwood playing the same character.

Russell Tovey as Midshipman Frame in Voyage of the DamnedHe appeared at Comic Con as part of the Being Human panel and remarked:

no idea. Genuinely no idea.” he told fans. “There’s been lots of rumours. I did that scene [in The End of Time] and I never really thought anything of it… to be honest, I’ve never really watched Torchwood…But since [that scene] I’ve been bombarded with messages asking ‘Are you gonna be Jack’s lover?’ I genuinely don’t know.”

Tovey filmed a cameo for The End of Time in which he meets Captain Jack in a space Cantina and the pair start flirting straight away, rumours then started that Tovey was going to be Jack’s lover in the new series of Torchwood.

Russell would be fantastic if offered a role and would bring a comedy element to the show that would make it that little bit more accessible for audiences.

Imagine their faces if both characters realise they know the Doctor….

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

bit confused as to the characters supposed popularity. what did he actually do?

RTD has made it clear that he’s a fan of Tovey, and quite likes Midshipman Frame too, so it wouldn’t surprise me. It would be fun to see two arms of HM British Forces joined together. Can Paul please confirm whether Russell has got it right with Alonzo’s rank? ;-)
