Doctor Who Complete Series 5 is due out later this year on DVD and Blu-ray, and will be available in stunning lenticular packaging, as well as a numbered limited edition (illustrated here), making it the perfect gift for Christmas.
We’ve been sent some preliminary artwork – subject to change – which should give you a taste for how the final DVD and Blu-ray releases should look.
The DVD also features some fantastic extras including exclusively filmed scenes giving you an insight to what has happened in the TARDIS between episodes, as well as a Matt Smith video diary, and Doctor Who Confidentials for each episode and the Monster Diaries from each volume.
The “between episodes” extras are available to US fans too, and are described in the LA Times as:
“…A truly tantalizing extra: two newly filmed sequences, both written by Steven Moffat and available only in this collection. They are called “Meanwhile, in the TARDIS…” and, as that title suggests, they are drop-in moments that show what happens between the episodes”
The DVD features these episodes:
- The Eleventh Hour
- The Beast Below
- Victory of the Daleks
- The Time of Angels
- Flesh and Stone
- Vampires of Venice
- Amy’s Choice
- The Hungry Earth
- Cold Blood
- Vincent and the Doctor
- The Lodger
- The Pandorica Opens
- The Big Bang
Full details of the extras are yet to be released, but expect commentaries as well as the bonus material listed above.
