Shooting on the Christmas Doctor Who commences shortly – with a couple of star names attached already, reports MediaGuardian.
In what amounts to fantasy casting for the editor of this blog, singer Katherine Jenkins – whose limited acting experience stretches to playing herself in an episode of Emmerdale – will be a star attraction in the Christmas special.
Says Steven Moffat:
“She is brilliant – she is a great singer and a great performer.”
And to balance up the appearance of the Welsh songbird, Michael Gambon – the second Dumbledore actor in the Harry Potter movies – is also appearing in the Christmas Doctor Who!  of this great piece of casting, Steven Moffat says:
“Michael Gambon is as distinguished an actor as I can imagine and the fact that he was Dumbledore means that he is already know to millions of children.”
They will of course be appearing alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as the Doctor and Amy – and hopefully Arthur Darvill as Rory!

Michael Gambon as…? Brilliant casting news-a real talent. Lets hope his part is major and not just a cameo.Really excited about this.
yeah Gambon’s the quality of actor I would enjoy seeing in the show.
I see Gambon as a monk with a secret. What a coup!
