Here’s a pleasant way to begin your day – despite expectations surrounding the release of the first installment of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games suggesting that the BBC would unveil the game to Windows users this Saturday, the broadcaster announced the immediate availability of City of the Daleks for download yesterday!
To start playing, head over to the BBC website, and make sure you have 10-20 minutes to spare for the 330-megabyte download to arrive on your computer.
For those of you who are not sure what we’re on about, here’s a friendly synopsis of the game provided by the BBC:
“The TARDIS materializes in 1963 to find the human race crushed by the Daleks. The Doctor embarks on a quest to the Dalek planet to correct time and save the last survivor of Humanity – Amy Pond!”
If that’s not enough to get you to download right this second, then you must fall under one of two categories:Â you’re either a Mac user, or you’re a fan living outside the UK (Unfortunately for this contributor, I meet both of these prerequisites).
The Macintosh edition of City of the Daleks, as of the present, is still scheduled for 15 June. Sorry, folks, no early Christmas for you!
Also, the BBC has finally hinted at its timetable for the game’s international release. As you can see by clicking here, foreign Whovians will get their first taste at the Eleventh Doctor’s gaming debut in early July, but for an unspecified price; there’s no such thing as a free lunch for those not paying the licence fee.
We’ll have a review of the game soon – in the meantime, checkout our preview of City of the Daleks!
