I Know What I Like…

Doctor Who - Vincent and the DoctorMatt Smith and Karen Gillan recently sat down to talk about their favorite artists (YouTube here) in the latest of their “Big Questions” segments on the BBC website as a tie-in to Vincent and the Doctor. Interestingly, of the long list of painters and sculptors drawn up between them, Van Gogh is not mentioned once. No wonder he cut his ear off; he must have wanted a Doctor’s attention!

If you’re one of those people who likes to study up on the truth behind a historical episode of Doctor Who before you watch, the Beeb has you covered as well – If you go here, you’ll find a brief biography of the starving artist’s life and how he posthumously became recognized as one of the most significant painters ever to have lived. You’ll also inevitably come across six links to elsewhere in the cloud with more detailed information on Van Gogh and other artists from his time, including a visit to the BBC’s own archive.

Patrick Riley

Patrick has just been murdered and is currently seated on the edge of a lawn chair wondering when this Missy person will stop demanding his autograph. He probably can't tweet from the grave, but you should follow him anyway @10PatrickRiley.
