Curtis – “An Honour”

Doctor Who writer Richard CurtisDoctor Who scriptwriter Richard Curtis has revealed that he would be honoured to write another episode of the series – if he had the right idea.

Speaking in Doctor Who Magazine, Curtis said:

“If I ever have an idea that I think would be suitable and best done in Doctor Who again, of course, it would be an honour and delight to do another.”

The writer – best known for writing sitcoms Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley as well as hit romcoms Four Weddings and a Funeral and Love, Actually – also revealed that he had help from his family in planning and plotting Vincent and the Doctor, which stars Tony Curran as Vincent van Gogh and Love, Actually star Bill Nighy as Dr Black.

“During the summer I was writing it, we had lots of prints of Van Gogh paintings up round the house – and a board with index cards going through the plot, scene by scene – and both of my big kids came up with ideas.”

Doctor Who Magazine #422 is out now – meanwhile Vincent and the Doctor airs at 6.40pm on BBC One and BBC HD this Saturday, 5th June.
