Amy Pond – Cyber Swotter!

Doctor Who - Karen Gillan stars as Amy Pond in The Pandorica OpensAmy Pond finally fights some monsters in the season finale two parter The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang.

Karen Gillan let slip to TV Times that she attacks Cybermen in the upcoming two-parter but refused to say what else emerges from the Pandorica…

“Amy gets to fight Cybermen with a flaming piece of wood – that’s really cool! The Cybermen are advancing towards her and she grabs this flammable thing.

“But she’s fighting off a few other things at the same time, [which] I can’t really say!”

Gillan has already promised fans that the episodes are  both ‘scary’ and ‘heartbreaking’

It remains to be seen whether Amy was swotting a ‘Cybus’ Cyberman, the term given to the new breed of Cybermen from ‘Pete’s World’ the alternative universe where Rose Tyler’s father, Pete, was alive and well and the Cybermen were created by John Lumic or a classic Cyberman without the distinctive ‘C’ emblem that delineated ‘Cybus’ from Cyber (Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel and Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, 2006).

With other famous monsters being touted to return once the Pandorica has opened, does this mean Steven Moffat has grand plans to redesign the whole of the Whoinverse in one dramatic, brilliant swoop?

The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang, written by The Grand Moff, will air June 19 and June 26 on BBC One and BBC HD.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
