67% Increase in Visitors

Following release of the new Doctor Who game City of the Daleks, the BBC have announced that over 500,000 copies have been downloaded – something that has lead to a sharp rise in weekly visitors to the official site.

Doctor Who game City of the DaleksThe BBC’s Official Doctor Who website has reported a week-on-week increase in unique UK visitors of over 67 per cent in the full week the game was available.

Says Simon Nelson, Head of BBC Multiplatform in Vision:

“Whilst the 67 per cent increase in UK visitors to the Doctor Who website is a combination of factors – not least the excellent Vincent Van Gogh section which complements episode 10 – the Adventure Games page was a significant destination.

“With episode two just around the corner, we’re looking forward to even more people enjoying these adventures – and can’t wait to see the reaction to the unveiling next week.”

With details set to be released on Tuesday at an event in Scotland (and streamed on the BBC’s Doctor Who pages) of the second, Cyberman-filled episode, these figures look set to increase even more.

If you haven’t played City of the Daleks yet (what are you waiting for?) the game is now available for PC and Intel-powered Mac computers. Download from bbc.co.uk/doctorwho.
