Junior Doctorchef

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan on Junior MasterchefSFX has reported on Matt Smith and Karen Gillan trying the offerings of contestants from BBC’s Junior Masterchef. The actors ate their specially prepared dishes while filming new scenes for what could either be The Sarah Jane Adventures or this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special (definitely no prize if you can tell us which one). Matt and Karen shared a menu of:

For Matt:

* Medium-rare fillet steak with potato wedges with Béarnaise sauce and a side salad
* Treacle sponge with custard

For Karen:

* Oriental crispy duck pancakes with a plum sauce
* Banoffi pie

Both enjoyed their meal, with Matt commenting:

“Really lovely meal… Hats off to it… If I was wearing a hat, I’d tip it.”

The SFX report also has a poke of light fun at the (at the time) latest Doctor Who episode, The Hungry Earth and comments on its lateral thinking item of the week which is an actual screwdriver in the shape of, that’s right, the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
