New star of Doctor Who Karen Gillan caused a mini-riot in a branch of Tescos this weekend as she grabbed a bite to eat. After appearing on BBC Radio One’s Vernon Kaye show, reports the Daily Mail.
Elegantly dressed in white shirt, bottle green skirt and vintage-style brown ankle boots, Gillan made a stereotypical Scottish purchase – from the cut-price items shelf! Let’s hope she can avoid being snapped making a similar faux pas in future…
Amy Pond actress Gillan had earlier appeared on Vernon Kaye’s Radio One show, in which the Bolton sex-text-fiend quizzed her about being a Doctor Who companion.
‘It’s a real privilege to play Amy Pond,’ she said.
‘She is such a fantastic character – it’s been a life-changing thing. Fans are very loyal and passionate and protective, so they can be very hard to win over.’
On the matter of fashion, and her previous life as a mode, Gillan remarked:
‘I don’t look to fashion in terms of what is trendy, I just like what I like – it’s about self-expression.’
Interestingly, it seems that Matt Smith is quite a bit shorter than Gillan, who revealed that she wore flat shoes for her audition. She recalled:
‘He looked smaller in real life and just generally in scale.’
Imagine being out of scale! Having a massive head would be one thing, but having abnormally long arms…
