End of the Line for Rex

According to the Telegraph, David Tennant has failed “to make it in America” following the decision by NBC executives to shelve Rex is Not Your Lawyer.

David Tennant - not your lawyerThe idea behind the series – a Chicago lawyer who gets stage fright starts coaching his clients to represent themselves – seemed pretty sound, but after recording of the in-house pilot (hardly “axed after one episode”!) the sets were dismantled and the show has been passed over twice.

In the cut and thrust world of US television, this is nothing new – pilot shows get made and remade regularly – and Tennant will certainly have already put this one down to experience.

However as we reported last week, the Tenth Doctor actor is set to star in the fascinating Decoy Bride film project alongside Kelly MacDonald – a project likely to see the actor enjoying renewed success this side of the Atlantic if the script is as good as we’re lead to believe…
