Terrified of Tennis Balls

Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan has revealed how her role as Amy Pond is not particularly glamourous – although presumably the former model doesn’t mind that much as she’s a down to earth Scot!

Karen Gillan, Doctor Who starOf course, the low glamour moment must have come in The Beast Below, where the scene Karen describes as “lying in a pool of sick with cabbage in it” occurs.

“That was quite bizarre,” she said, adding that she has now learnt how to “act terrified of tennis balls”.

“I’ve mastered that art for the CGI afterwards.”

Of her co-star Matt Smith – whom Gillan appears to get on with great – she said:

“He’s great to work with.

“You never know what’s going to happen from one take to the next so I don’t know what’s coming.”
