River Song Talks Spoilers

Alex Kingston spoke to Digital Spy this week about her return to Doctor Who as River Song in this weeks episode, The Time of Angels.

Doctor Who guest star Alex KingstonIn particular, Alex explained why in her opinion the fourth and fifth episodes were recorded first.

I think they were very clever shooting these episodes out of sequence because for Matt and Karen the pressure on them to have already found their feet in the first episode is enormous so I think the fact that their first shooting episodes were episodes 4 and 5 I think took the pressure off them.

Also I think that also that might be why I was brought in… to support them really and particularly to support Matt. But to be honest he didn’t need it, he sails through; he’s fantastic.

While she didn’t give much away, she did reveal a few snippets which we’ll keep hidden as spoilers…

On the background to how River returns, Alex said:

“She has been released from jail, she has a special dispensation to get out of jail on this mission because nobody else can do this mission. She basically has a hunch that one of these weeping angels is in private collectors hands and she needs this confirmation from the Doctor.”

Finally, Alex was asked about the possibility of River Song returning.

“All i can say is: ‘The opening of the Pandorica'”
