A recent interview with Doctor Who voice actor Nick Briggs by Digital Spy has revealed something interesting about the new Daleks…
This is a bit of a spoiler that relates to episodes later in the current run of Doctor Who. As such we don’t want to upset anyone, so the following is for spoilerphiles only!
When asked by Digital Spy reporter Matt Reynolds about the return of the Daleks later in the series, Briggs was naturally evasive, before suggesting that if he had contributed to another Dalek story, “then it’s quite incredible…”
“…the energy of Steven Moffat’s writing is amazing. There are masses of really cool, exciting information that fly at you, and then suddenly, it’s like someone has diverted light with a mirror and it moves in the opposite direction. Imagine a Russell T Davies-style, action-packed adventure but written by Steven Moffat. You know what I mean? So it’s not only dramatically frenetic, but it’s intellectually frenetic, and idea frenetic. It’s just absolutely buzzing. It was a fantastic read – if indeed I have read such a script!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Briggs answers questions about the upcoming Doctor Who: The Adventure Games (in which he voices Daleks opposite Matt Smith as the Doctor), Cybermen and how the new Daleks voices are different to the “originals”.
Incidentally, we interviewed Nick not so long ago – it’s a fascinating read!
