Amazing Time

Karen Gillan has revealed that she hopes to stay with Doctor Who for as long as possible, whilst also admitting to a fair few nerves about the launch fof the new series, which kicks off tonight with The Eleventh Hour.

Karen Gillan is Amy Pond in Doctor WhoWhile we haven’t seen anything of Amy Pond beyond the trailers, it would be great to see the Doctor Who on to a companion for a few years, much like he did with the odd one or two in the classic series. Why shouldn’t Karen Gillan stick around?

“I know the companions change a lot quicker than the Doctors, so who knows,” she said. “I’d like to continue doing it for as long as I can. I’ve had an amazing time so far.”

On the matter of first night nerves meanwhile, Ms Gillan is more than aware that tonight is when her life really changes.

“Of course I’m nervous! Everyone’s actually going to watch it now. The time has come.”

Amazingly for a lady of such striking looks, Gillan is finding herself the subject of attention when she goes out.

“I know things are going to change for me – it’s kind of already started happening. I get recognised in the street and people want autographs. It’s crazy. I’m just a girl from Inverness who got into acting. Now I’m on the biggest show on TV.”
