6.6m View Angels

6.6m viewers tuned in to watch Doctor Who on Saturday evening, with The Time of Angels taking a 35.3% share of the available audience, according to overnight figures

Doctor Who - The Time of AngelsAround 200,000 more viewers tuned in to catch the return of the Weeping Angels, River Song and Graham Norton than made the effort to watch Victory of the Daleks on the night, although any figures at this stage can only be an indication and not a true result. Once iPlayer and other “delayed viewing” figures have been factored in, the full story will emerge.

Earlier examples this season have seen around 2m viewers watching the show upon repeat, on iPlayer or SKY+. There is every chance that the latest episode from Steven Moffat and starring Matt Smith, Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan will prove very popular on BBC iPlayer in particular, and end up being the top rated episode of the series so far.

Given the high reputation of the episode already – it received an Appreciation Index of 87 – The Time of Angels is already shaping up to be a classic. Find out what we thought in our review.
