Tide Lord

Matt Smith - star of Womb and Doctor WhoForget about buying Esquire this weekend – if you’re interested in the interview with new Doctor Who Matt Smith, just surf the Google News pages to find what seems to be the entire chat chopped up and distributed across many online magazines!

Latest news is that during the shooting of Womb last year (a bizarre genetics story in which Smith co-stars with Casino Royale‘s Eva Green) Smith threw himself into the role so hard he needed medical attention!

A scene on a beach – a location in north Germany was used – lead to Smith getting very cold indeed… to the point he needed medical attention!

“It was in St Peter-Ording, on the north coast of Germany. They said I could use a double, but I’d worked myself up to do it, so I went into the sea three times. It was the coldest I’ve ever been.

“The next shot we did, we were running along the beach and I was so frozen I couldn’t move. I just hit the deck.”

April’s Esquire is on sale from Friday, 5th April in all good newsagents.
