The Doctor is like Einstein

Matt Smith is the Doctor. Or Albert EinsteinSpeaking to the Daily Mail this week, Doctor Who star Matt Smith has revealed that to research his role as the Eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord, he read up on Albert Einstein.

Einstein of course is the legendary Nobel prize-winning physicist whose work changed the face of science, mathematics and warfare.

If anything comes from this interview, it is the fact that not only is Smith a workaholic (“Work is my girlfriend at the moment”) he is fiercely intelligent.

‘The Doctor is the cleverest man in the universe. He’s the most infinite man I’ve ever played. When I was researching him, I read a lot about Einstein. I thought, if there were to be someone on the planet who had a brain near the size of the Doctor’s, it’s probably him. At the moment, this is a great source of joy.’

It’s a fair enough observation – and further evidence that Smith is an extremely good fit for the role of the Eleventh Doctor. We’ll find our for certain in just three weeks time!
