The Cybermen Return

Cybermen return to Doctor Who - how will they look? We’ve seen hide nor hair of any set pictures, yet two sources – including the BBC – have revealed that the Cybermen are set to return to Doctor Who in 2010.

As we’ve seen no images, we don’t know if their look has changed, just as we don’t know if they’re traditional Cybermen or the “Pete’s World” variety from The Age of Steel/Rise of the Cybermen onwards.

While many fans have been hoping for a more traditional approach to these particular monsters should they return (the cadaverous space pirates spin is particularly popular and overdue for an update) it looks  like despite the revelation, we’re going to have to hang fire on the OTT speculation for the meantime.

Of course as we’ve already seen in the last few months, the Cybermen aren’t the only returning monsters – the Silurians (also known as Earth Reptiles or Eocenes and first seen in the 1970 adventure Doctor Who and the Silurians) are rumoured to be the green skinned creatures on the New Year’s Day online trailer, while the Daleks have of course been seen in backdrops evoking war time London.

The clock is ticking – The Eleventh Hour is approaching, and with it a new series of new and returning monsters!

I’ve always thought the original Hartnell Cybermen were the scariest with the partially exposed flesh of the hands and the creepy bandages. As the decades have passed, I’ve found the Cybermen getting more sleek and less frightening. I’m hoping the Moff goes back to the creepy era….

    • Totally agree there Rick – I’d have loved to see a return of that grusome look, updated for the 2010s…

as we’ve seen in the trailer though – its the Cybusmen…
