No Ticket to Ride

The Chase and The Space Museum on DVDAccording to GallifreyNewsBase, the short clip of the Beatles from episode one of The Chase is set to be available only on Region 2 DVDs – resulting in buyers of the classic Doctor Who release outside of Europe having the scene snipped.

Master copies of the discs for use overseas have been prepared with a small edit to remove the moment in which the Beatles – Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison – perform “Ticket to Ride” on an edition of Top of the Pops, as seen on the Time-Space Visualiser in the TARDIS.

The scene leads directly into a another within the Time-Space Visualiser in which the TARDIS crew of The Doctor, Barbara, Ian and Vicky discover that they are being tracked and hunted down by the Daleks – the “chase” of the story’s title.

It is unclear how the edit will work in context, and is of course disappointing for fans outside of the UK and Europe.

Scheduled for a UK release on March 1st, The Space Museum and The Chase has an RRP of £29.99 – however you can preorder it right now from Amazon for just £17.98!
