Injury Doctor

Matt Smith posing in Esquire magazineMore details from Matt Smith’s Esquire interview have leaked out, with the Daily Mail focussing on the Eleventh Doctor’s former life – as a promising footballer whose career was cut short by injury.

The new Doctor Who was only 16 when his career was cut short, an injury that prompted him to take a greater interest in drama, something he had apparently done well at in school.

‘It was very tough though,’ he reveals in a new interview with Esquire magazine. ‘I remember crying, because that was all I’d ever invested in.

‘I hadn’t really considered acting.’

Quite a bit about this interview seems to have got out – I wonder if it’s going to be worth buying the new issue of Esquire, out on Friday…?
