Big Finish have come to the rescue of anyone wondering exactly what the facts are about a possible appearance by Tom Baker in their Doctor Who audio range.
While the man himself has confirmed:
‘In my twilight years, I am looking forward to a tremendous Big Finish and the sooner the better,’
…Executive Producer Nicholas Briggs has added:
‘Tom and I have been communicating about possible projects for some time. There is really no firm news other than that, but we are both keen to make something happen. Lis Sladen, Louise Jameson and Nicholas Courtney have also expressed an interest in being involved…
‘No storylines have been written or approved yet and we don’t anticipate anything being available before 2011.’
Big Finish have also stressed that any future audios featuring Tom Baker would not have any affect on his ongoing work with BBC Audiobooks, adding weight to the rumour of a follow-up to the Hornet’s Nest series.
This is of course great news – Tom’s return to the convention scene seems to have given various Big Finish movers and shakers the chance to engage the Fourth Doctor directly, and while there is no solid agreement, what we have here is a much better response than previous flat denials.
