2011 Confirmed for Doctor Who!

Doctor Who will return in 2011This evening’s press launch for the new series has seen confirmation that Doctor Who will return for season 32 in 2011, marking the sixth full series since the shows return in 2005.

A Christmas special will also appear on screens later this year, with Matt Smith returning for a second full series as the Eleventh Doctor!

No news as yet however on whether Karen Gillan will continue beyond this series as Amy Pond…

Executive producer Piers (“Darth”) Wenger announced that the 2010 Christmas special would be penned by showrunner Steven (“The Grand Moff”) Moffat.

According to Digital Spy, shooting on the new series is set to complete this Saturday – a four month break for the stars will then allow them to prepare for the shooting of a further 13 episodes, filming of which will kick off in July.
