Whoniverse Cleans Up at SFX Awards

Winners of the SFX Sci Fi Awards were announced at the SFXWeekender event over the past few days – and Doctor Who and Torchwood came out of it with a couple of awards apiece.

Although both shows missed out on Best TV Show to Supernatural, things were soon turned around with the Best TV Episode award going to Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day 5, with The Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead coming third and fourth.

Congratulations must go to Eve Myles for beating off competition from Megan Fox and Anna Friel to win the award for Best Actress for Torchwood,  while David Tennant was in familiar territory picking up an award for Best Actor for Doctor Who (with Children of Earth‘s Peter Capaldi coming fourth).

Future Doctor Who writer Neil Gaiman did well with Best Novel and Best Comic, while the Best Collectable Item was declared to be The Journal of Impossible Things, with other Doctor Who items also making the top 10 of that category.

Finally, the SFX Choice Awards were voted for by the SFX team – and saw new showrunner Steven Moffat awarded the title of Hope for the Future and Ianto Jones being named as a Cult Hero following his surprising death in Children of Earth.

Congratulations to all concerned!
