Tennant is a “Single Father”

David Tennant to play a single fatherApparently the only actor in the UK at the moment, David Tennant is to star in the “emotionally powerful yet funny” Single Father, a four-part drama being made through BBC Scotland, reports Herald Scotland.

Shooting on the serial – in which David Tennant plays a man struggling to raise four children after the death of his wife – will take place in and around Glasgow from March.

“I feel very lucky to have been sent this script.
“When I read what Mick Ford had written I was desperate to be part of this project. And to be working with Red Production Company again makes me very happy indeed.”

Tennant previously worked Red Production Company on Russell T Davies’ Casanova in 2005.This time around he’s working from a script by Mick Ford. Anne Mensah is head of drama for BBC Scotland:

“I loved Mick Ford’s scripts the first time I read them. It’s the most beautiful yet funny tale of grief, loss and new love you could hope to encounter. David Tennant is an amazing actor and perfect for the role.”

Good to see the former Tenth Doctor actor staying in work – it will be fascinating to see how he fares in this challenging new role.
