Silurians Confirmed in Doctor Who 2010Virtual confirmation of the identity of the green Silurian-esque creatures witnessed in the Doctor Who Season 31 trailer that followed The End of Time and still available on the BBC website has been given – from an actress playing one of the bipedal reptiles.

Neve McIntosh – currently starring alongside former Blake’s 7 star Gareth Thomas in Proof at Perth Theatre until Saturday – plays one of the ancient monsters, last seen in 1984’s Warriors of the Deep and first revealed to the world in The Silurians in 1970.

“The stories have got a bit darker. I play twins, and they’re big lizardwarrior women.

“They’re one of the Silurian tribes that have been undisturbed under the earth. And of course we get disturbed.

“It’s the first time I’ve worn prosthetics but I’m still recognisable if you know me well enough.

Ms McIntosh is also enthusiastic about new star Matt Smith, describing the Eleventh Doctor actor as:

“…The best yet out of the new guys.”

We’ve already featured some rumours about the new Silurians earlier this week – they’re spoilers, however, so tread with care!
