Neil Gaiman Confirms Script

Neil GaimanNeil Gaiman was the recipient of a gong for Best Comic at the SFX Awards held at the SFX Weekender this weekend – and revealed that the rumours about him scripting an episode of Doctor Who were in fact TRUE!

His forwarded acceptance speech (Gaiman was unable to attend) for his award for Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader included the following:

“…while I know it’s cruel to make you wait for things, in about 14 months from now, which is to say, NOT in the upcoming season but early in the one after that, it’s quite possible that I might have written an episode. And if I had, it would originally have been called “The House of Nothing”. But it definitely isn’t called that any more.

“Countdown. You’ve got about 14 months.”

Rumours that comic book creator, novelist and screenplay writer Gaiman (Stardust, Neverwhere, The Sandman) was involved with the 2010 series have persisted since the first names were attached in the summer of 2009 – knowing that he’s instead providing a script for season 32 is much better than finding out he isn’t involved at all!
