Eve Out-Banks Tennant

If you thought David Tennant was paid too much for starring as Doctor Who, you will be amazed by this revelation from The Sun.

Waking the Dead star Trevor Eve apparently earns more than the former Doctor Who – with Eve picking up £1 million a series to Tennant’s £600,000.

Most astonishing of all however is Martin Shaw’s £400,000. Call me an old fashioned Professionals fan, but Shaw is emintently more watchable than the miserable, dour performances of Trevor Eve as Peter Boyd…

…as is, of course, David Tennant. A source said:

“Trevor is well thought of at the BBC and she show has done well, so his salary has grown.”

Waking the Dead is of course a popular series with a regularly high quality of scripts – it seems that Eve’s salarly is based on a regularly increasing salary over a period of 10 years. Meanwhile an unnamed drama producer speculated that:

“David Tennant would make maybe £600,000-plus as Doctor Who, while David Jason could get £800,000 to £900,000.”

One thing to note of course is that the Tenth Doctor actor is a good 30 years younger than Eve, Shaw and Jason – there’s plenty of earning power left in him.
