Carey Mulligan Oscar Nomination

Oscar nominated Carey Mulligan in An EducationWe’re big fans of Sally Sparrow here on Kasterborous, so it’s with a sense of pride that we report that Carey Mulligan, the actress playing the heroine in the Steven Moffat classic Blink in 2007, has received an Academy Award nomination!

Mulligan – who starred in 2009’s An Education – is up against some considerable talent, not least Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep:

  • Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
  • Helen Mirren (The Last Station)
  • Carey Mulligan (An Education)
  • Gabourey Sidibe (Precious)
  • Meryl Streep (Julie and Julia)

And don’t think that this will be the last we see of Carey Mulligan if, as expected, Sandra Bullock wins the award as she did at the Golden Globes. Mulligan is back in cinemas later this year in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps as the daughter of the now reformed Gordon Gecko (Michael Douglas) and shares the screen with Shia LaBeouf, Charlie Sheen, Josh Brolin, Susan Sarandon and Frank Langella.
