Right Said Fred

I’ve just joined a new Facebook group – Let’s get Bernard Cribbins back into the charts! Set up by comic Charlie Ross, the group is intended to promote Cribbins’ 1962 classic record “Right Said Fred” for people to purchase online.

The actor – who starred in The End of Time alongside David Tennant – had three hits in 1962, two of them making the Top 10.

1962     “Hole In The Ground”     #9
1962     “Right Said Fred”     #10     Inspired name of band “Right Said Fred”
1962     “Gossip Calypso”     #25

Produced by soon to be future Beatles producer George Martin, Cribbins records were typical of some of the comedy tunes available at the time – a speciality of Martin, who had previously overseen albums by The Goons.

If successful, Cribbins will become one of the oldest male artists to have appeared in the UK charts. Sign up at the Facebook page!
