Movie Designer on Season 31

Dan Walker isn’t a name that trips off many tongues – but following successful design work on the Emperor of the Daleks in 2005’s The Parting of the Ways, he’s back on Season 31 of Doctor Who, reports The Sunday Sun.

Following work on the final Ninth Doctor story, Walker has also designed the interior of the Batmobile for Batman Begins as well as working on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and The Golden Compass. His work can also be seen shortly in the new Prince of Persia movie and in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood film which stars Russell Crowe.

Dan said: “My first big break as a freelancer was on Batman Begins – I was just in the right place at the right time.

“I put in a pitch for the Thunderbirds film and then my name was passed on to the Batman makers.

“I was in another right place for Doctor Who. I’ve always been passionate about films and have no connections with the industry so this is my dream job.”

A 1993 graduate of the University of Teeside, Dan returned there last year to give a guest lecture: “From Teesside to Gotham City”.

We’re expecting even bigger things from the Matt Smith/Steven Moffat era now!
