Dad, I’m the Doctor!

New Doctor Who star Matt Smith has revealed how he kept the secret of his casting in late 2008 – but eventually could hold it in no longer and told his dad!

Speaking this week to Doctor Who Magazine, Smtih – just 26 when cast as the Eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord – revealed how he was keeping the secret from friends and family alike, and even watched an episode with a flatmate, while keeping the knowledge of his casting totally to himself!

“It’s like any secret – it bubbles up inside you and the more you try to keep it, the more mad you get and the more you try to suppress it.

“I was going mad. My Dad was rather flabbergasted. When I told him, he laughed. He was excited, elated and very proud.”

Matt Smith will be on our screens as the Eleventh Doctor in just a few months time – we can’t wait!
