Karen Gillan and Matt Smith Chat
January 7, 2010, 8:30 pm
Talking to Doctor Who Magazine, Doctor Who actor Matt Smith has revealed that his incarnation of the Time Lord is markedly different to his predecessors.
The latest DWM features interviews with the new Eleventh Doctor and his companion Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan – who incidentally described meeting Smith for the first time as “very scary.”
“I was actually quite intimidated, because, you know, he’s Doctor Who,” she told Doctor Who Magazine. “It was all very scary. But he was very friendly, and made me feel at ease.”
Smith added: “I do the reverse of that now – I’m a complete git.”
Matt Smith meanwhile describes the Doctor’s relationship with Amy Pond in an interesting manner:
“And Amy’s got real fire in her belly. But there’s also great affection and love there, and we’re developing that all the time.”
Meanwhile Smith hinted at his Doctor’s character:
“My character will be less tolerant than a lot of those who have gone before him.”
…possibly hinted at by the professorial attire…?
