TFX Stage School in Inverness is the home of Sally Coppen – a former drama coach of future Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan.
Speaking to the Daily Record at the weekend, Ms Coppen revealed her surprise at hearing that her former star pupil had been cast as Amy Pond, companion to the Eleventh Doctor, as well as her pride.
“Working on Doctor Who is one of the biggest TV jobs about. As well as having a great natural talent, when I first met Karen what stood out was that she was strikingly beautiful.
“She is going to do very well. It is not often you get someone like that.”
She added: “I was really proud of her. It makes you feel that what you are doing is really worthwhile.”
