Masterful Interview

Master actor John Simm featured in an interview in the Telegraph on Christmas Eve, chatting largely about Doctor Who and fame as well as other roles and his upcoming Hamlet.

It’s great to see Simm in the trailers for The End of Time – his Master is certainly one of the more memorable incarnations and one that was popular first time around, and it seems he had no reservations about returning…

‘It was very late at night and very covert. Which was exactly what happened when I was asked to play the Master first time round – only then I was up in Manchester filming Life on Mars. So I already knew that something special was likely to come out of these late-night meetings with Russell. He said they wanted to bring him back and explained what was going to happen.

‘I agreed straightaway; it was lovely to play him again,’ he says.

This is a good interview and is in considerable contrast to the one featured in The Independent some months ago in which the journalist concerned was apparently trying to do a hatchet job on the former Life on Mars star. If you’re looking for End of Time themed material to satiate you before the big finale kicks off tonight, look no further than this.
